Every NoorLune piece has a name — and every name has a story.
When we started NoorLune, we knew we didn’t want product codes or ordinary names. Our pieces are made slowly, by hand, in Pakistan, and we wanted each one to carry a little of where it comes from. So we turned to Urdu, a language full of poetry, and chose words of light and night — because our name itself means moonlight.
Noor is Urdu and Arabic for light. Lune is French for moon. Together, NoorLune is moonlight: soft, quiet and never ordinary. Here are the words behind our first pieces.
Chaandni — moonlight

Chaandni (چاندنی) is the silver light of the moon. In Urdu poetry it’s the light of long evenings, of conversations on rooftops, of calm after a busy day.
We gave this name to our signature hexagon cardigan — a piece built from individually crocheted hexagons, joined by hand into one. Like moonlight, it’s soft and gentle, and it makes everything around it feel a little calmer.

Sitara — star
Sitara (ستارہ) means star. Stars don’t shout; they shine quietly, and you notice them more the longer you look.
Our Sitara bag is made from hand-crocheted flower motifs, each petal made one by one. It’s the kind of piece people ask about — “Where did you get that?” — which is exactly how a star should feel.

Jugnu — firefly

Jugnu (جگنو) is a firefly — a tiny light flickering in the dark on a summer night. Many of us grew up chasing them as children.
The Jugnu is our smallest piece: a mini purse for coins, cards and little treasures. Small, bright and full of charm, it’s one of our favourite gifts.
Shafaq — the glow of twilight

Shafaq (شفق) is the soft red-gold glow that fills the sky just after sunset — the moment between day and night.
Our Shafaq shrug is light and airy, made to be worn over dresses on warm evenings. It’s for that golden hour when the day softens and the evening begins.
Raat ki Rani — queen of the night

Raat ki rani (رات کی رانی) is night-blooming jasmine — a flower that opens after dark and fills the air with its scent. In many Pakistani homes, it grows by the gate or the window, and its fragrance is a memory of summer nights.
Our Raat Rani bouquet is hand-crocheted, stem by stem. Unlike real flowers, it never fades — a forever bouquet for the moments you want to keep.
Sukoon — peace
Sukoon (سکون) is a word that’s hard to translate. It means peace, calm, rest — the feeling of finally sitting down at the end of the day.
We named our crochet cushion cover Sukoon because that’s what we hope it brings to your home: softness, texture and a quiet corner to rest.

Why names matter

A name turns an object into something with a story. When you wear Chaandni or give someone a Raat Rani bouquet, you’re carrying a small piece of Urdu poetry — and a piece of Pakistan — into your own life.
That’s what NoorLune is about: things made with care, carrying meaning, made to be kept.
